2011-01-29, Overnight Cod Trip on the Voyager, Point Pleasant, NJ
January 29th, 2011 - "First Fishing Trip of 2011" Overnight Cod Trip on the Voyager out of Point Pleasant, NJ
Boat departed at 11pm on 01/28/11. Started fishing at about 6am. I caught the first Cod on the boat early in the morning, just too small to keep. Didn't catch another for the rest of the trip. Carl had two Cod keepers. Others averaged one or two Cod for the trip. Used clams as bait. We caught a lot of eel and dogfish. A few sea robins and some sea ravens. Don't remember the name of the small fish we caught, but we got a decent amount of them.
The boat was nice, good breakfast sandwich, crew was helpful, and heated handrails were awesome. Boat arrived back at port at 6pm. Tried raw dogfish on the boat (not to bad). We learned that dogfish young practice Intrauterine cannibalism. We also learned that cod fish often contain parasitic worms.
Count: Don't remember but Carl definitely caught more eel and had the most keepers.

Nice day but slow fishing. Lots of fisherman on the beach. Saw only one other guy reel in a fish, a nice Striper (keeper). Pictures above are of the 14" and 10" Fluke.
